Cheryl “Salt” Wray
By Tonya Wilder-Butts

In 1985, Salt-n-Pepa burst onto the hip-hop scene with “The Show Stopper,” an answer record to Doug E. Fresh’s hit song “The Show.” Over the next 17 years, Salt-n-Pepa would release 5 albums, sell more than 13 million records, and win multiple industry awards. Then, the show abruptly stopped for Salt-n-Pepa.

Cheryl “Salt” Wray, of Salt-n-Pepa fame walked away from it all in 2002. The time had come for her to leave the pressures and indignities of the music industry world behind her.

Cheryl now spices her life with the Word of God. Last year, the wife and mother of two reopened the Salt-n-Pepa chapter of her life with a reality show on a popular music network. The show follows the ladies, still the best selling female rap act in history, as they work on their professional and personal relationship with each other, while Cheryl continues to maintain a strong commitment to Christ.

A Day With Marlon McCree
By Tonya Wilder-Butts

On the playing field, Marlon McCree is best known as a crafty ball hawk with a knack for frustrating receivers and disrupting pass plays. Over the course of his seven-year career, the former University of Kentucky safety has consistently displayed this talent for several NFL teams, including the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Houston Texans, the Carolina Panthers, the San Diego Chargers, and currently the Denver Broncos. At 31, the well-traveled McCree certainly knows a thing or two about the importance of keeping a dream alive; his entire NFL career is a testament to this fact. McCree recently sat down with EOL editor Tonya Wilder-Butts and Gospel Rhythm-n-Praise artist Sean “Demetrus” Senior at his San Diego, CA home to discuss some of the life lessons he’s learned during his career.
